Maureen Kay Overath-Durham, 82, died at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. She was born April 14, 1942 in Alton the daughter of the late Morris and Grace (Leeds) Parkins. She retired in 1995 as a school teacher with the Alton School District. Kay enjoyed gardening and working in her yard, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. On September 12, 1961 she married Larry Joe Overath and he preceded her in death on April 26, 2001. On May 25, 2002 she went on to marry Terry Durham and he survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mauri Leigh Overath of Belleville and Jill Anne LaFreniere (Andy) of Caseyville, two grandchildren, Lairra Unverzagt and Rubee Unverzagt, three step children, Brien Durham of Chandler, Arizona, Michaela Durham of Alton and Margaret Moreau (Thom) of Moab, Utah, and one step grandson, Tyler Moreau. Also surviving are many special nieces, nephews and godchildren, as well as three very dedicated and loving caregivers. Besides her first husband, Larry Overath she was preceded in death by and infant son, Matthew Morris Overath and two sisters, Rebecca Sue Olson and Evelyn Jean Winker.
